Vietnam’s largest island Phu Quoc boasts stunning beaches and a serene atmosphere, making it a top vacation destination for sun seekers.

Sao Beach

Sao Beach (Bai Sao), one of the most beautiful beaches on the southern island in Kien Giang Province, is located near An Thoi Town, about 25 km from Phu Quoc’s center. The beach stretches along 7 km of white sand. The sea here is calm and the water gets bluer the further you enter. At the northern and southern tip of the beach, there are entrances created by locals to enter surrounding pristine forests.

Dai Beach

It’s no surprise Dai Beach (Bai Dai) is considered one of the most pristine beaches in the world. From here, you can easily travel to the popular Dinh Cau Night Marke after a day languishing in the turquoise sea.

Tourists can join the fun of kayaking, fishing and diving, as well as visiting nearby islets. Dai Beach, 15 km in length, is located in Ganh Dau Commune, only 45 minutes from the Phu Quoc International Airport.

Truong Beach

Known as the longest beach in Phu Quoc, Truong Beach (Bai Truong) has a coastline of about 20 km, starting at Dinh Cau Port. Parallel to the beach lies famous Tran Hung Dao Street, the main road on the island and usually crowded. Many restaurants, motels, resorts, shops, eateries and other entertainment services are concentrated here, making Truong Beach one of the busiest beaches on Phu Quoc.

Skirting Truong Beach is the beautiful palm line, suitable for chilling and sunbathing. It is a shallow ocean zone, with cool, calm waters and no rough waves. The beach is ideal for watching the sunset.

Khem Beach

This is one of the most gorgeous beaches in Phu Quoc with its white sand and crystal-clear water. Although it is not as spacious or long as Truong Beach, it still has much to offer. At the south of Khem Beach (Bai Khem), there is an old well called Fairy Well. Although its position is near the sea, the water here is totally fresh. Local seafood is also delicious and fresh, with several fishing villages located nearby.

Khem Beach is located on the south of Phu Quoc like Bai Sao. This beach is 25 km from the center of Duong Dong Town. Visitors can rent a motorbike in town to ride there or simply take a taxi.

Ganh Dau Beach

Bound on the west by Cape Ganh Dau, 32 km from Duong Dong Town, this spot has more than just a beach to behold. Tourists can visit Nguyen Trung Truc Temple and enjoy its vast beauty, for instance. Although it’s only 500 m long, Ganh Dau is shielded by two mountains, one of which is Ta Lon of Cambodia.

The special experience visitors can enjoy at Ganh Dau Beach (Bai Ganh Dau) includes swimming and viewing the borderland between Vietnam and Cambodia. A boat service is also available, which take tourists to two islands offshore, Hon Ban and Hon Thay Boi.

Vung Bau Beach

Located in the northwestern part of Phu Quoc, Vung Bau Beach (Bai Vung Bau) is still relatively undeveloped, so its pristine beauty is still intact. For now, there are still only a few small resorts here.

This is really a place for those seeking tranquility. It is remote, so visitors can enjoy the feeling of having the whole area to themselves. From the beach, tourists can go to Hon Mong Tay Island, which is a great place for swimming, snorkeling and fishing.

The second edition of Coracle Music Festival will be held November 29-30 in the southern beach town of Ho Tram, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

Indie rock singer William McCarthy from the U.S., South African R&B artists Nonku Phiri and HCMC-based pop-punk band 7Uppercuts are some of the artists who will take the main stage this year.

The second stage will feature Fleetmac Wood, a dance crew that exclusively perform Fleetwood Mac remixes, local DJ Jase Nguyen and U.S. DJ collective West Loop Chicago, who will be the final act of the festival.

Saigon’s top craft brewers will serve ice-cold beer on tap, and pop-up food stations will serve a wide variety of dishes as indie and hip-hop acts are performed on two stages from 5 p.m. till early next morning. Organizers will provide festival goers with free drinking water to avoid the beach getting littered with plastic bottles.

The performances will take place on Ho Tram beach, a two-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, so festival goers can not only listen to good music, but also enjoy stunning sunrises and sunsets. They can also have fun paddling, flying kites and riding jet-skis.

Ticket prices for the festival range from VND1.5-25 million ($66-1,096). For more information on tickets, visit here.

14 resorts have villas, swimming pools and restaurants encroaching on public beaches in Da Nang, a city official said on Monday.

Public beaches are defined as stretching 50 meters from the water, where no construction is allowed, Luu Xuan Hung, head of Ngu Hanh Son District’s Urban Regulation Department, said.

The violators include Pulchra Resort on Truong Sa Street, which has five villas on public beaches, and the Olalani Resort on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, which has a four-story structure that encroaches 130 square meters into the public beach area, Hung said.

All were built within the last decade.

Da Nang authorities used to allow resort investors to manage the beach area around their buildings.

But following public criticism that resorts tend to block public beaches from the public and reserve them to their customers, the city has changed its policy.

It has started work to build roads leading to the beaches through resorts to give access to the public.

The coastal city, usually considered the third most important in Vietnam after Hanoi and HCMC, is a top tourist destination.

It received 7.6 million tourists last year, including 2.87 million foreigners, a 23.3 percent increase from 2017.

In a praiseworthy effort to restore the natural beauty of its coastline and reserve public areas for the people, the administration of Binh Dinh Province in south-central Vietnam is poised to relocate three major seaside hotels that block the view of a popular beach.

The three hotels up for relocation – Hai Au, Hoang Yen and Binh Duong – are located on An Duong Vuong Street in the provincial capital of Quy Nhon.

The high-rises overlook Quy Nhon’s famous “crescent” coastline, featuring a sandy beach that stretches kilometers into an esthetic arc.

“Clearing land in this core section of Quy Nhon’s urban area will be extremely challenging and costly,” said Binh Dinh chairman Ho Quoc Dung at a voters’ meeting in Quy Nhon on Monday.

“However, provincial leaders resolve to follow through with this plan to safeguard the unique beauty of Quy Nhon’s beach,” he told voters.

According to Dung, the relocation of all view-blocking buildings away from Quy Nhon’s coast has been mulled over for years and was recently added to the city’s urban planning.

“The coastline provides the base for Quy Nhon’s entire urban space,” Dung said.

“The beach and coastal area belong to the community, and we should not repeat the mistake of crowding them with buildings and structures as some other coastal cities have done,” he added.

The two-star Binh Duong Hotel will be first to undergo demolition, as agreed by the provincial administration and Vietnam’s defense ministry.

Final steps to inventory and evaluate the hotel’s assets are being done to determine the amount of compensation its owner will receive from the site clearance.

“Clearance of the other two hotels, Hai Au and Hoang Yen, will depend on the expiration of their respective land lease contracts,” Dung said.

This is not the first time Binh Dinh has taken a bold move to improve its capital’s landscape.

Previously, 3,000 households in Quy Nhon was relocated for an ambitious project to build four new lanes for its iconic Xuan Dieu Street, which runs along the famous coastline, completed in late 2018.

The province plans to set aside another VND280 billion (US$12 million) this year to transform the old street into a pedestrian walkway that doubles as a coastal park.

More roads leading up to Quy Nhon’s coastline will be constructed in the foreseeable future, Dung said.
